Burgrieden is located in Upper Swabia in the Rot Valley in the northern district of Biberach, around five kilometers east of Laupheim .

You can also travel by car from the Achstetten exit on the B30 federal road, halfway between Ulm and Biberach / Riss.

Burgrieden and Rot had a train station on the Laupheim West – Schwendi railway line. However, passenger traffic was discontinued in 1971 and replaced by buses (line 240). The train station in Burgrieden is now run by a restaurant and the station building in Rot is privately owned.

The main town Burgrieden was first mentioned in a document in 1275. The castles Henkenburg and Heusenberg were located in what is now the municipality .

Museum Villa Rot

  • The Museum Villa Rot is located in an Art Nouveau villa in the Rot district. The villa is surrounded by a park. The house is dedicated to contemporary art.

Festival Burgrieden

The festival in Burgrieden has only existed since it was founded in 2014. The open-air stage was specially built for this purpose.

The auditorium offers 800 seats. Both amateur and professional actors are used here. Claudia Huitz is the managing director of Festspiele Burgrieden GmbH.

According to the announcement of the founders, not only pieces based on Karl May should be staged on the stage over time . So far, however, only Karl May fabrics have been used.

In 2014–2017, Mike Dietrich , who had already gained experience in various areas of Karl May productions, was the artistic director with the script and direction . In 2018, Michael Müller will direct the film.

From the beginning in 2014 to 2017, Helmut Krauss (known from " Löwenzahn " and other productions) was the narrator. Patrick Zwingmann has been taking on this task since 2018.
