List of apple varieties

The dormouse is an old cultivar of the cultivated apple ( Malus domestica ) which is native to the area around the Solmsbach valley (in the Lahn-Dill district ). Another common name was idler .

tree

All names are aimed at the ability of the tree to sprout its flowers (and also its leaves) particularly late. Due to this property, the tree is also well suited for locations at risk of frost. The variety is undemanding and also thrives on sandy soils. The susceptibility to fungal diseases such as scab and fruit tree cancer are very low. The trees become large, overhanging and umbrella-like and are very healthy, but regular pruning is still recommended. The yield starts relatively early and is reliable.

fruit

The apples have a greenish-yellow basic color that is almost completely covered by the light to brown-red and striped covering color. The brightly colored lenticels are easy to see. The flesh is also slightly greenish-yellow to reddish, juicy and mildly sour and sweet. The Siebenschläfer variety is a good commercial variety and a good table variety when fresh. Due to its properties, such as the late flowering, beautiful color and firm skin, as well as the low susceptibility to diseases, the variety is well suited for the home garden and the orchard.

Confusers
