The Solmsbach im Taunus is a 24.6 km long, left-hand and southern tributary of the Lahn in the district of Gießen and the Lahn-Dill district in Hesse . Its catchment area is about 112.5 km².
He became the namesake of the Counts and Princely Family of Solms , whose ancestral castle once stood in Burgsolms , some villages on the brook and the Solmstalbahn that followed through its valley .

The Solmsbach rises in the eastern Hintertaunus . Its source is in the Taunus Nature Park on the southern outskirts of Espa , a district of the Langgöns community , at around 430 m above sea level. NN .
Initially the Solmsbach flows westwards to Weiperfelden and then in a northwesterly direction through Brandoberndorf , past Kröffelbach and through Kraftsolms ; they are all districts of the municipality of Waldsolms . Several streams flow on the left and right, for example the Eichelbach near Weiperfelden and the Aubach in Brandoberndorf.
Then the Solmsbach flows in a north-northwest direction, passing Niederquembach , a district of Schöffengrund , and Neukirchen , a district of Braunfels , each in the west. In the Braunfels district of Bonbaden , the brook is fed by the Hainbach , which rises near Laufdorf . Here it forms the western border of the Wetzlar Hintertaunus .
Bonbaden north of it passes through the Solmser district Oberdorf , then after flowing through the local part Solmser Burgsolms to about 142 m height in the Rhine influx Lahn to open .
