Neukirchen is a district of Braunfels in the Lahn-Dill district in Central Hesse . It is the smallest of the city districts.
geography
The place is in the north of the eastern Hintertaunus , south of the core city of Braunfels and lies close together with the neighboring town Niederquembach . The Solmsbach flows through the village and the village is located on the western slope of the valley. The highest point is the Weipertgrundberg, popularly known as the pulpit , at 326 meters (above sea level).
Neighboring towns are Altenkirchen (southwest), Bonbaden (northwest), Schwalbach (north), Niederquembach (east), Oberquembach (east) and Kraftsolms (south).
history
Neukirchen is mentioned for the first time in 912, as Niunchiriha , in a deed of donation from King Konrad I to the Frauenberg monastery . In a document from Count Marquard von Solms , the place is named 1232 Nuwenkirgen . In 1474 Caspar Schlaun von Linden exchanged his property in the village for property and inclines in Dutenhofen with Count Otto von Solms-Braunfels .
The place was spared in the Thirty Years War . The village was not hit until 1673 and 1759.
In 1815, as a result of the restoration decided at the Congress of Vienna , Neukirchen became part of Prussia. During the German Revolution of 1848, the residents of Neukirchen also tried to gain more rights and moved to Braunfels Castle .
On December 28, 1956, the church in Neukirchen burned down completely. On October 6, 1957, the new Protestant church was built above the village.
Territorial reform
On December 31, 1971, Neukirchen was incorporated into the city of Braunfels as part of the regional reform in Hesse .

For Neukirchen there is a local advisory board with a local mayor . The local advisory council consists of five members, three of which are from the SPD and two from the CDU since the local elections in Hesse in 2016 . The mayor is Peter Schubert (SPD).
Culture and sights
Dolles village
On June 16, 2013 Neukirchen took part in the final of the Dollen Dorf , a competition of the Hessischer Rundfunk , in Kassel. The other finalists were Röhrenfurth , Walsdorf and Nonnenroth . Walsdorf was the winner of the competition. Due to the audience voting, Neukirchen came in third despite first place in the game.

The L 3283 runs through the village, coming from the direction of Braunfels, which joins the L 3053 via Bonbaden bei Neukirchen , which continues south to Kraftsolms . The K 372 branches off to the south to Altenkirchen and joins the federal highway 456 west of Altenkirchen .
On November 1, 1912, the Solmsbach Valley Railway was opened. In Neukirchen there was a stop and thus a connection to the rail network of the Prussian State Railways . With the shutdown of passenger traffic on the route on May 31, 1985 and the dismantling of the tracks, the stop was also closed. Today, the final stop of the Taunusbahn is in Brandoberndorf, 5 kilometers away . For this purpose, a rail replacement service with buses has been set up, which provides a connection to the Taunusbahn for Neukirchen.
