Main building on Jedleseer Straße

Jedlesee settlement is the unofficial name of an urban residential complex in Jedlesee in the 21st Viennese district of Floridsdorf at Jedleseer Strasse 79-95. It is (like the Großfeld or Per-Albin-Hansson settlement ) an ensemble of apartment blocks and not a settlement in the sense of the settler movement of the interwar period .

The facility is located south of Jedleseer Straße, is delimited by Fraunhofer-, Schulz- and Maxwellgasse and extends to Ampére- and Teslagasse. It was built between 1949 and 1955 in several construction phases.

Architects

Six architects were involved in the planning of this residential complex for the municipality of Vienna: Hermann Aichinger , Leo Nikolaus Bolldorf, Norbert Mandl, Richard Pfob, Heinrich Schmid , Lois Welzenbacher . The construction took place from 1949 to 1955.

applied Arts

The sgraffito Die Vier Jahreszeiten by Leopold Schmid stretches across the corner of the block facing Jedleseer Straße . There are ceramics, tiles, reliefs, sgraffiti , mosaics and enamel works with different (partly animal, partly ornamental, partly figural) representations on almost every staircase above or next to the house gate .
