The Siegfried Boysen is a sea ​​rescue boat (SRB) of the German Society for the Rescue of Shipwrecked People (DGzRS).

The Siegfried Boysen is one of two boats in the so-called 12-meter class. The boat was built in 1972 by the Evers shipyard in Niendorf under construction number 510.

The DGzRS internal designation of the boat is KRST 1, the call sign is DA 7298.

Naming

The Siegfried Boysen was on June 6, 1972 in Wedel baptized in the name of a member of a family that had DGzRS donated a significant amount.

Technical Equipment

The lifeboat is equipped with radio systems, echo sounder, radar and GPS .

In 1986 the boat was rebuilt at the Kröger shipyard in Rendsburg and received a new stern.

deployment

The Siegfried Boysen was in service at the DGzRS Nordstrand station from 1972 to the end of 1973 . From December 5, 1973 to July 17, 2000 the boat was in Neuharlingersiel . After a short break - probably to overhaul the shipyard - the lifeboat was moved to the Glowe station, where it lay until August 31, 2005. Since then, the boat has been used for training purposes at the SAR school in Neustadt / Holstein.
