Siegfried Haas (born March 10, 1958 in Steinheidel-Erlabrunn , † November 2013 in Dresden ) was a German artist and sculptor.

biography

Siegfried Haas grew up in Schlema / Erzgebirge and graduated in 1976 as a geologist at SDAG Wismut . In 1981 he worked for the first time with sculpture. In 1985 he moved to Dresden, where he met Ray van Zeschau and Rainer A. Schmidt and worked there with the underground film group FESA , which cast him in two films. For the 24th Dresden Film Festival , “Waiting for Bodó” and for the 25th time both films with Siegfried Haas were shown with the support of the Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and the Media in the special program of the 25th Dresden Film Festival “Picnic at the edge of the zone” on the large screen of the Fritz The long hall of the Dresden Schauburg cinema is shown completely again for the first time. The evening was hosted by the author and film historian Claus Löser in the presence of the protagonists. Furthermore, the film "WAR Probably" with Siegfried Haas in the leading role was shown on four days in the film festival series "Fehlfarben-Dresden between 1985 and 1992" in three Dresden cinemas and in the lower church of the Frauenkirche Dresden . In the 1980s, he redesigned the exterior and interior of the “Albertstift” daycare center in Dresden Löbtau, which was founded in 1901 . Since 1995 he has worked as a freelance sculptor. In 2008 he created in Dresden with the 15 × 70 meter "The Four Seasons" the largest roof image in Germany, which can still be seen from around 1.5 km.

In early November 2013, Siegfried Haas shot himself in his Dresden apartment.

Siegfried Haas was a member of the Federal Association of Visual Artists and the Dresden Artists' Association . He is represented by the Sybille Nütt gallery.
