Siegfried Heckscher (born September 8, 1870 in Hamburg ; † February 5, 1929 there ) was a German lawyer and member of the German Reichstag .

Life

Heckscher attended the foundation school in Hamburg from 1815 , then the Christianeum in Altona , the universities of Freiburg , Munich and Berlin . He lived repeatedly in England , France and the United States for economic purposes and studied economics. He published in the writings of the Verein für Sozialpolitik on the situation of the shoemaker's trade in Holstein, the situation of workers employed in shipping, in the Annals of the German Reich an archival study of the old Hamburg guild courts, various articles in the nation , the Prussian yearbooks and other magazines.

In 1899 he became a lawyer in Hamburg and edited the Hamburg political-literary weekly Der Lotse with Carl Mönckeberg . He later turned to dramatic work and published Der Stürmer , Schuld , Karl I. , Der Tod and Der Spielmann . He was also a member of the select committee of the Association for Social Policy, was a member of the Stage Writers Association, board member of the Association for Social, Internal Colonization in Germany and since 1912 a member of the directorate of the Hamburg-America Line in Hamburg , responsible for its social policy department.

From 1907 to 1918 he was a member of the German Reichstag for the constituency of the Province of Schleswig-Holstein 10 ( Duchy of Lauenburg ) and the Liberal Association and the Progressive People's Party .
