The Type 122 is a container feeder vessel type of Sietas in Neuenfelde .
history
The Type 122 was ordered by various West German shipping companies in the mid-1980s and manufactured in five units from 1987 to 1989. All five ships were already planned for long-term charter to the Irish Bell Lines when the construction contracts were awarded , so that Sietas designed the Type 122 according to the wishes of the Irish shipping company. In order to be able to approach smaller container cranes , it was given a relatively low deckhouse and a foldable radar mast. Initially, the ships for Bell Lines were used on scheduled services between Rotterdam-Rozenburg and Harwich . When Bell Lines had to file for bankruptcy in 1997, they were chartered out to other shipping companies and used on various European feeder services. Today, through sales, they can be found in coastal shipping worldwide.
technology
The type 122 was created in sectional construction and has an ice-reinforced hull. It can stow up to 262 20-foot standard containers (TEU). The ships were originally designed for the transport of over-wide Bell Lines Container ( EUR-pallet interpreted -Container with 2.44 m inside) and had initially appropriate cell guides in the cargo holds . In addition, other special-size containers and hazardous goods containers can also be stowed. There are connections for 45 refrigerated containers on board .
The individual box-shaped cargo hold is 61.00 m long, 12.48 m wide and 8.40 m high. It has a grain volume of around 4,700 m³ (166,000 cubic feet ). Due to the shape of the hold, this type of ship can also be used for cellulose or wood parcel shipping. The tank ceiling is reinforced for stowing heavy goods . Hydraulically operated folding hatch covers reinforced with heavy cargo were used.
Most ships of the series are from a four-stroke - diesel engine of type Wärtsilä driven 6R32D which a controllable pitch propeller acts. The Angela Jürgens received a MaK diesel engine is. The berthing and casting off maneuvers are supported by a bow thruster .
