Sigismund August von Berrenhauer

Sigismund August von Berrenhauer (* 1719 in Dietrichswalde ; † March 29, 1795 in Königsberg ) was a Prussian major general and commandant of Königsberg.

Life

origin

His father was the heir to Seewalde in East Prussia, his mother died after 1753 as a widow on the Seewalde estate in the Osterode district .

Military career

In 1731 he became a corporal in infantry regiment No. 4 . In 1735 he was transferred to Infantry Regiment No. 6 . But on August 11, 1740, he was transferred to the "Jung-Dohna" infantry regiment as a second lieutenant . During the Second Silesian War Berrenhauer took part in the battles of Hohenfriedberg and Groß-Jägersdorf as well as in the siege of Cosel. On January 23rd, he was made Prime Minister and on October 27th, 1756, Chief of Staff.

During the Seven Years' War he fought near Kunersdorf and was wounded there. On December 26, 1757 he was promoted to captain and company commander , on October 14, 1757 he became major . After the war on August 1, 1767 he was promoted to lieutenant colonel and on May 20, 1771 to colonel (with a patent from May 28, 1771). On June 3, 1774 he was appointed commander of the 38th Infantry Regiment. On November 10, 1778, he became chief of the Brehmer garrison regiment , but on January 5, 1782, he was given the 11th garrison regiment . In 1788 the Prussian garrison regiments were converted into depot battalions. His regiment became the depot battalion of the 53rd Infantry Regiment . Berrenhauer kept a personal company, 500 thalers and 700 thalers a year until his death.

On June 21, 1789 he became the commandant of the Gaudenz Fortress with a salary of 1,500 thalers. But on July 6, 1789, he was given a dispensation at his own request and received a pension of 1200 thalers. Nevertheless, on November 1, 1790, he was appointed commandant of Königsberg and on January 25, 1792, he was appointed major general, which on April 5, 1792 earned him a bonus of 200 thalers. He died on March 29, 1795 in Königsberg.

family

He married on October 2, 1760 Johanna Elisabeth von Burgsdorf (* October 2, 1713; † January 7, 1766), widowed von Hoff. After her death he married von Briesen († January 26, 1802 in Memel ). One daughter married Peter von Schachtmeyer, secondary lieutenant a. D. and Mayor of Neidenburg .
