Sigmund Schott (statistician)

Sigmund Albert Julius Schott (born October 10, 1868 in Leipzig , † November 19, 1953 in Heidelberg ) was a German statistician .

Life

Born in Leipzig, Stuttgart grown Sigmund Schott studied by put- High School at the Universities of Munich and Leipzig , 1890 took place its graduation to the Dr. phil. In 1890 he took up his first position as a volunteer assistant in the statistical office of the city of Leipzig, in 1892 he moved to the grand ducal statistical office in Oldenburg as a government assessor , and in 1897 he was appointed director of the statistical office of the city of Mannheim founded two years earlier . At times he was also head of the Mannheim employment office and the evening academy . In 1934 he was retired.

Sigmund Schott completed his habilitation in 1907 at the Ruprecht-Karls-Universität Heidelberg , in 1908 he was promoted to associate professor there , from 1928 to 1933 he worked as a personal professor at the Mannheim University of Commerce , where he was appointed director of studies in 1908 . After leaving the company, he was given an honorary doctorate in economics for his long-term commitment . Schott - he carried out pioneering statistical work in the Mannheim area - was awarded honorary citizenship of the city of Mannheim in 1949 .
