Signe Trosten started for Tana Idrettslag . She had been part of the Norwegian national team since the late 1990s. In the 1988/89 season she achieved one of her best World Cup results with a sixth place in a sprint in Ruhpolding . The Norwegian achieved her greatest international success at the 1991 World Championships in Lahti , where she won the bronze medal alongside Synnøve Thoresen , Hildegunn Fossen and Unni Kristiansen in the team race behind the representations of the Soviet Union and Bulgaria. The 1992 Winter Olympics , where biathlon was the first to be an Olympic event for women, became a career highlight. Trosten was used in all three races. In the sprint she was 19th with two missing targets in standing shooting, in individual with one error each in both standing shooting tenth. In the relay race, she came in seventh as a starting runner with Hildegunn Fossen and Elin Kristiansen . The last major event was the 1993 World Championships in Borowetz . Here Consolation came in 73rd in the individual. She competed in her last World Cup races in 1995 .
Nationally, Trosten won several medals at Norwegian Championships , but without being able to win titles. Their first medal she won in 1992 in Skrautvål as they sprint behind Grete Ingeborg Nykkelmo became vice champion. In 1993 she won the silver medals in the sprint as well as in the team race with the representation of the province of Troms . A year later she repeated the success with the team and also won the bronze medal in the individual behind Hildegunn Fossen and Anne Elvebakk .
