Sigo Lehming (born November 6, 1927 in Berlin ; † May 12, 2021 in Pinneberg ) was a Lutheran theologian and Protestant military bishop .

Career

After two years of military service, Lehming existed as an air force helper and soldier in the Wehrmacht, among others. with the infantry division Scharnhorst , as well as American captivity in the summer of 1946 in Kiel. At the University of Kiel he completed his studies in Protestant theology, which he obtained in 1954 with a doctorate. theol. completed. He was ordained in 1956 .

From 1956 to 1958 he worked as a study inspector at the Predigerseminar Preetz and from 1958 to 1966 he took over the parish of Quickborn in Schleswig-Holstein . From January 1, 1967, Lehming headed the Pinneberg parish as provost . He was a member of the Schleswig-Holstein regional synod as well as a member of the general synod and deputy member of the church leadership of the United Evangelical Lutheran Church of Germany (VELKD). In 1972 he succeeded Hermann Kunst as Protestant military bishop of the Bundeswehr and held the office until 1985.
