Sigurður Bjarnason (born December 1, 1970 in Garðabær ) is an Icelandic handball player , coach and official.

Sigurður moved in 1991 from his hometown club UMF Stjarnan to TV Großwallstadt in the 1st handball league . With HSG D / M Wetzlar he reached the final of the German handball cup in 2001 . After returning to Iceland , he returned to the UMF Stjarnan as a coach and won the Icelandic Cup in 2006. Since 2011 he has been vice president of the association and is responsible for finances.

With the Icelandic national team , he achieved fourth place at the 1992 Olympic Games in Barcelona . At the European Championships in Sweden in 2002 , he was also able to achieve fourth place with Iceland. In total, Sigurður played in 163 international matches for his country.

Sigurður is married and has two children. Professionally, he works as a product manager at a bank.
