The Silver barberry ( Berberis hypokerina ) is a plant from the family of Barberry (Berberidaceae). It is native to the north of Myanmar . This species is used as an ornamental shrub in gardens and parks. It is only suitable for lime-free soil.
The silver barberry is an evergreen shrub with thornless reddish-green branches. The elliptically shaped leaves are stiff, triangular thorns, gray-green on the top, often white on the underside and up to 15 centimeters long. In early summer, 4 to 25 lemon-yellow flowers appear in dense clusters . The berries are elliptical in shape, black in color and frosted blue.
