Silent Overdrive was a German hardcore punk and thrash metal band from Sinsheim that was founded in 2002 and disbanded in 2012.
history
The band was founded in the summer of 2002, although the group initially lacked the right singer. She found this a little later in Maik Wacker. After the first demo had been recorded, concerts all over southern Germany followed. In 2004 the band went to Maranis Studios to record the EP Babylon Nation . MDD Records became aware of the band and released the record, with Twilight Vertrieb taking over the distribution. The release was followed by other appearances, including together with Illdisposed in 2005. At the end of the year, the band also went back to Maranis Studios to record their debut album Disease . In addition, other appearances followed together with Vader , Tankard , Entombed , Dew-Scented and Samael . In 2006 the band played on Up from the Ground . In spring 2007 followed a tour through Central and Eastern Europe together with Pro-Pain . In 2009 the next EP Wake Up Call followed. On August 8, 2012, exactly ten years after their first concert, the group played their last appearance.

According to Marcus Italiani from metalnews.de, the band on Disease play "[e] in-game basic structures, some more complex breaks and lots of mosh beats ". In songs like The Story Ends , the group is reminiscent of Megadeth . According to Markus Endres from metal.de, the band plays modern Thrash Metal on the album, with influences from Hardcore Punk, whereby the band calls their music "Melodic Thrash Core". The album lives from “fat groovy, driving beats, breakdowns ” and “fast double bass parts”. The vocals vary between deep growls , hardcore punk shouts and melodic clear vocals. According to Heiko Eschenbach from metal.de, the band on Wake Up Call play a mixture of modern and classic Thrash Metal and Hardcore Punk, whereby the vocals are again very varied. The EP can be compared to the works of Hatebreed , Pro-Pain and Sworn Enemy , but is also interesting for Death Metal fans of groups like Vader and Entombed.
