Silke Gajek (* 7. March 1962 in Schwerin as Silke Jacobsen ) is a German politician of the Greens . She was chairwoman of the Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania regional association , the top candidate for the 2011 state election and from 2011 to 2016 a member of the Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania state parliament .

education and profession

Gajek attended the POS "Peace School" in Schwerin and trained as a skilled worker for writing technology and later as a state-certified secretary. Until the beginning of 1990 she worked in various companies in Schwerin (Klement-Gottwald-Werk, Keramik Schwerin, UNITAS). After the political change, she worked from October 1990 to 1992 through an ABM position in the autonomous women's shelter in Schwerin. From 1993 to 2000 Gajek studied economics, business administration, law and sociology as a scholarship holder of the Hans Böckler Foundation on the second educational path in Hamburg and graduated with a degree in social economics. From 2000 to the end of 2011 she was managing director of the Schwerin self-help contact point and from 2007 to mid-2012 she took over the management of the state working group "Self-help contact points MV".

politics

Silke Gajek began her political engagement at the time of the fall at the New Forum . She joined Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen in 1996 and was the spokesperson for the Schwerin district association. In 2001 she initially resigned because of the federal party's Afghanistan policy, but remained active in local politics. From 2004 to October 2011 she was a member of the city council of Schwerin and from 2004 to 2009 chairwoman of the youth welfare committee.

After rejoining the party in 2008, Silke Gajek successfully ran for the office of state board spokeswoman and was Ulrike Berger's successor from 2008 to 2011, on an equal footing with Jürgen Suhr, at the head of the Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania State Green Association. For the state elections on September 4, 2011, she was elected as the top candidate by the state delegates' conference of the Greens with 81% of the vote. After her election to the state parliament, she resigned from the state executive, her successor as state chairwoman is Kerstin Felgner . In the constituent session of the 6th state parliament, she was elected third vice-president.
