Silvio Herklotz (born May 6, 1994 in Berlin ) is a former German cyclist .

Athletic career

As a young driver, Silvio Herklotz was considered to be the greatest German talent for tours .

He started cycling at the age of nine with RSV Werner Otto and won the International Kids Tour in the U13 category in 2006 . He started for RSV Werner Otto .

In 2010 Silvio Herklotz was German junior champion in cyclo-cross racing , in 2011 and 2012 German junior champion in the same discipline and in 2012 German junior mountain champion. In 2011, he also won the International 3-Stage Tour in Frankfurt am Main , finished sixth in the Junior European Road Championship and won a time trial stage of the International Peace Tour . At the end of the season, Silvio Herklotz was voted German junior cyclist of the year 2011 . At the Giro della Lunigiana , he won three stages in 2012 and came second overall.

In the adult category, Herklotz joined the UCI Continental Team Team Stölting in 2013 and was fourth in the U23 edition of Rund um den Finanzplatz Eschborn-Frankfurt . In June 2013 in Ilsfeld-Auenstein, after a solo trip, he became German champion in the U23 road race and a few weeks later German mountain champion . He then won his first international elite cycling race with the overall ranking of the Alsace Tour and was eighth in the U23 road race at the World Championships . In 2014 Herklotz won the one-day race Gran Premio Palio del Recioto and finished ninth in the U23 World Championships . In the U23 event from Liège – Bastogne – Liège , Herklotz finished second, although he had to wait at a gate and was then misdirected by the race management.

In 2016, Herklotz moved to the UCI Professional Continental Team Bora-Argon 18 , which received a license as a UCI WorldTeam in 2017 . He started at the Vuelta a España 2016 , but could not finish this Grand Tour . His best result for this team in 2017 was fourth place in the overall standings of the Czech Cycling Tour . Subsequently, his contract was not extended by the team management.

In 2018, Herklotz drove for the Spanish Burgos bra , but was only able to contest a few races due to a Lyme disease . The disease healed by the end of the year. Herklotz temporarily withdrew from international cycling in order to complete an apprenticeship as a sports and fitness salesman. At the same time, he wanted to compete in some circuit races and possibly competitions in the cycling Bundesliga .
