The Simetsberg is a 1,840 m high mountain in the Estergebirge in the Bavarian Prealps . The solitary peak is the easternmost elevation of the Estergebirge. Especially on the east side there are several accessible caves in the lower third of the mountain. The summit can be reached as an easy mountain hike from Wallgau . The ascent over the so-called Black Trench is geologically interesting. In winter, the tour is also popular with snowshoe hikers . A delightful tour leads from Simetsberg over the Wildsee to the Wallgauer Alm. From Eschenlohe you can cycle up to an altitude of 1470 m and then climb the summit on a sparsely marked path.
