Sina (born May 28, 1966 in Visp ; bourgeois Ursula Bellwald ) is a Swiss dialect singer and songwriter from Gampel in the canton of Valais .

Life

When Sina was six years old, her mother died.

In the 1970s she gained her first musical experience in a children's, youth and gospel choir . At the same time she also got guitar lessons. In the 1980s she trained as a bank clerk .

Sina celebrated her first musical successes from 1983. Her first success was first place at the Oberwalliser Schlagerfestival with the song "The House of the Rising Sun", which was followed by concerts at home and abroad as well as leading roles in the musicals " Annie Get Your Gun " and " Jesus Christ Superstar ". At the same time, four years of individual classical tuition in Zurich, three years of individual tuition at the jazz school in Zurich and three years of individual tuition for pop, rock and improvisation in Zurich. She also attended several pop and rock workshops at home and abroad.

In 1990 Sina tried herself as a pop singer with German titles under the pseudonym SINA CAMPELL. The recordings were made in Jürgen Marcus' studio in Munich. CD title "My heart is on fire"

From 1993 to 1996 she was a radio presenter at Swiss Radio DRS . In 1994 she released her first dialect album entitled "Sina", which stayed in the Swiss charts for 23 weeks and reached platinum status . The song "Där Sohn vom Pfarre", the song by Dusty Springfield "Son of a Preacherman", which was rewritten by Polo Hofer into Valais German , is one of Sina's most famous songs, although the song was never released as a single.

In 1995 her second album "Wiiblich" was released, which reached first place in the CH charts for a week and stayed in the charts for a total of 12 weeks and was awarded gold and platinum. In 1997 the album "Häx odär heilig" was released and made it into the top ten of the Swiss charts and was awarded gold. This was followed by a year-long Swiss tour. Also in 1997 Sina released a CD (Sina) in Germany, but it was not a success. In 1998 she hosted the TV recordings at the Arosa Humor Festival .

Their fourth Swiss album, which was simply called “4”, was released in 1999 and again made it into the top ten of the Swiss charts and received a gold award. The accompanying tour included 80 concerts in Switzerland. In the same year her two duets “Där Papa isch äs Chorbi gsi” and “If it was necessary” were recorded with Polo Hofer . The highlight of Tour “4” was Luginbühl's New Year's Eve 1999 on the Gurten . At the same time, there was a crossover project with the Upper Valais Spillit , who play folk music.

In 2000 there were further crossover projects, this time with “ Alpine Experience ” in the area of ​​jazz. The song “Puppiliächt” with Sina and the Bulgarian voices appeared on the compilation “Atlas”, a project by the film composer Alex Kirschner. Awarded the Suisa recognition award. She worked at the Schauspielhaus Bochum in the play "Helges Leben" by Sibylle Berg , the musical direction of which she is responsible for together with Erika Stucky : for several months she played the role of "Frau Tod", Erika Stucky "Frau Gott". In 2001 Sina was awarded the Prix Walo 2000 in the Singer / Songwriter category. The CD “Marzipan” was released in the same year. In the CH charts, the album rose from 0 to number 2 and was awarded gold. From August to December she gave 40 concerts.

In 2002 she composed for the opening ceremony of the Expo in Biel in collaboration with her future husband Markus Kühne. She played the role of the black panther at the opening ceremony. In June the CD "Besht of Sina" was released; concerts followed in Switzerland until September. She took part in a cultural exchange with a Chinese band; in September 2002 she also gave concerts in China. At the Davos Music Days, she took part in a concert with a Romanian Roma band .

In the following year, “Toluheischis Vorläbu” appeared and set Super 8 films with concert character to music. Tours at home and abroad with Erika Stucky followed. The CD production "Goldigi Öigä" in a duet with Erika Stucky followed. The song “Där Pulli wa piisst” for Ohrewürm 5 was produced.

In 2004 Sina and Erika Stucky went on tour in Germany and abroad with “Toluheischis Vorläbu”. In the same year she married Markus Kühne.

The following year, the seventh album, "All: Tag", was released. Again there was a one-year concert tour through Switzerland. Also in 2005 she wrote the song “My wonderful life” for the Swiss-Austrian film “ Snow White ”.

In 2007 she appeared on the CD «Buebetröim» of the Swiss Jazz Orchestra ; several concerts with the Swiss Jazz Orchestra and Friends (Büne Huber, Kuno Lauener , Polo Hofer , Freda Goodlett, Philipp Fankhauser, Hendrix Ackle, Schmidi Schmidhauser) followed. In the same year, Stefan Schwietert took part in the film "Heimatklänge".

Her album “In Wolkä fische” was released in 2008 and entered the Swiss charts at number 2 and achieved gold status, the first single from it being “Wänn nit nun wänn dä”. The next single was "Hinnär diär".

“Wänn nid now wänn dä” was used as the theme song by the Dutch sports program “EK Studio Sportzomer” on NOS during Euro 2008 . As a result, her album "In Wolkä fische" was also released in Holland on PIAS (Play It Again Sam). The single "Wänn nit nun wänn dä" reached number 53 in the Dutch Top 100 charts.

At the end of 2009 Sina published a CD collection box with her previous albums.

In autumn 2010, Sina was on various stages with Michael von der Heide and the Zurich Symphony Orchestra with the “Songs & Symphony” program.
