The Sind (also Sindh ) is a right tributary of the Jhelam in the Indian union territory of Jammu and Kashmir . The river has a total length of 108 km; the mean flow rate is approx. 290 m³ / s.

The Sind has its origin on the Machoi glacier at an altitude of 3800 m not far from the Amarnath pilgrimage site. It flows in a predominantly westerly direction through the western foothills of the Himalayas . It finally flows into the Jhelam on the right at Shadipora , 17 km northwest of the city of Srinagar . The Srinagar – Leh highway meets the Sind river valley near the Zoji La mountain pass and follows the course of the river to the Kashmir valley plateau .
