Sixto Jiménez Galán (born June 23, 1962 in Huelva ) is a Spanish beach volleyball player .

Career

Jiménez played his first international tournaments in 1991 with Benjamin Vicedo . At the third tournament in Almería he reached the top ten for the first time in sixth. In 1994 and 1995 he competed in Rio de Janeiro with Miguel Prieto and came in ninth and thirteenth. He then formed a duo with Javier Bosma . At their first joint appearance in Marbella , Jiménez / Bosma finished fifth. As ninth in Marseille and Lignano and seventh in the Busan Open, they achieved further top ten results. In Espinho they won their first bronze medal and in Tenerife they only had to admit defeat in the final. At the other tournaments in 1995 they came in seventh twice and fifth once. On the 1996 World Tour, they finished fifth in Hermosa Beach and three ninth places. They also qualified for the Olympic Games in Atlanta . There they reached the fourth round with victories against competitors from Indonesia, Canada and Brazil, in which they were defeated by the US duo Dodd / Whitmarsh . In the losers round they met Canadians Child / Heese for the second time ; this time, the later bronze medalists prevailed and Jiménez / Bosma took fifth place. After the Olympic tournament, the Spaniards reached eleventh place at the Grand Slam in Pornichet in their last joint tournament.
