Sjoerd Harder (born March 17, 1963 in Grootegast , Netherlands ) is a Dutch chemist. He is professor for inorganic chemistry at the University of Erlangen .

life and work

Harder studied chemistry and physics at the University of Utrecht from 1981 to 1986 . In 1990 he did his doctorate at Lambert Brandsma with the thesis A study on the structure and reactivity of aryllithium compounds with an [alpha] - or [beta] -heteroatom , also in Utrecht . In 1991 he won the HJ Backer Award . He then worked as a postdoctoral researcher in Erlangen , then in Berkeley ( California , USA ) and finally in Konstanz . In 1998 he completed his habilitation in Konstanz, where he became a private lecturer . From 2004 to 2010 he worked in the field of organometallic at the University of Duisburg-Essen , where he investigated complexes with 1,2,3,4,5-pentakis (4-butylphenyl) -1,3-cyclopentadienyl ligands, among other things . From 2010 he held the Chair of Inorganic Chemistry at the University of Groningen . In 2012 he accepted a professorship at the University of Erlangen-Nürnberg , where he took over a W3 professorship at the Institute for Inorganic Chemistry there, succeeding Rudi van Eldik . In 2020 he received the Main Group Chemistry Award from the Royal Society of Chemistry .
