Skaryszew is a city in Poland in the Masovian Voivodeship , Powiat Radomski .
Geographical location
The city is located in the south of the former Radom Voivodeship , about six kilometers south of Radom .
history
The first written mention of the place comes from the year 1198, other sources mention 1187. At this time there was already a wooden church. In 1228 or 1230 Skaryszew received city rights . In 1241 the city was destroyed by an attack by the Tatars , but was rebuilt in 1264. In 1354 Casimir III granted city rights . confirmed, in 1433 the Magdeburg law was granted . In the third partition of Poland in 1795 Skaryszew came to Austria . With the formation of the Duchy of Warsaw in 1809 and subsequently the Congress of Poland in 1815, the city became part of it. In 1867, Tsar Alexander II withdrew its town charter, as did many in Congress Poland. After the First World War , the place became part of the re-established Poland and was given city rights again in 1925. On September 8, 1939, the German Wehrmacht bombed the city. The occupation by the Germans lasted until the invasion of the Red Army in January 1945. In the course of an administrative reform, the city became part of the newly formed Radom Voivodeship in 1975 . With its dissolution, Skaryszew has been part of the Masovian Voivodeship since 1999.
The horse market in Skaryszew is known nationwide.
Population development
In the first half of the 19th century, 800 people lived in 126 wooden houses in Skaryszew. The number rose to 1,300 in the second half of the century. Before the outbreak of the Second World War, there were 3,129 inhabitants.

The town of Skaryszew is located on state road 9 , which is also European route 371 . After about six kilometers in a northerly direction this road ends in Radom, in a south direction the road leads to Rzeszów.
Skaryszew has no connection to the rail network. The next train station is in Radom . There is a bus connection to Radom.
The nearest international airport is Warsaw Frederic Chopin Airport . It's about 100 kilometers north.
