location

The winter sports center Sjusjøen belongs to the municipality Ringsaker . It is located on the lake of the same name, about 20 km east of Lillehammer . The shooting range has 30 shooting lanes, parts of the trails are paved and can therefore also be used for training with roller skis in summer . A cross-country ski trail leads out of the stadium, around the alpine ski slopes, to Lake Sjusjøen and back to the stadium. In total, the trails are 350 km long and connected to Lillehammer and the trails in the Birkebeineren ski stadium .

There are eight runs available for alpine skiing , one of which is marked as difficult, two as moderate, four as easy and one as a beginner's slope. The ski area has a chair lift and three drag lifts. The children's area includes a people mover , a drag lift and a 300 m long descent with various obstacles. The lifts and facilities in the children's area can be used free of charge, even by adults.

Events

biathlon

As a rule, the season opening races of the Norwegian Biathlon Association are held annually in Sjusjøen. These will take place in November shortly before the start of the Biathlon World Cup . In addition to the World Cup athletes, the Norwegian participants in the IBU Cup , the Norwegian Biathlon Cup and young athletes are also at the start. In addition, many foreign nations that hold one last training camp in Sjusjøen before the World Cup use these competitions as preparation for the World Cup and as internal elimination races. Due to the high number of World Cup starters, the season opening races are also an initial assessment for the athletes and nations.

In Sjusjøen, competitions as part of the IBU Cup have also been held at irregular intervals since November 2017.
