Sloughhouse AVA (recognized July 17, 2006) is a wine-growing region in the US state of California . The area extends over the administrative area of Sacramento County . The protected designation of origin is a sub-zone in the northeastern part of the superior Lodi AVA . The Sloughhouse sub-zone has the warmest climate in the Lodi region , although the Sloughhouse AVA is 180 meters above sea level. NN (590 ft) higher than the other sub-zones. Due to the relative altitude, the area is only partially reached by the cooling mists of the Pacific . Sloughhouse is therefore seen as a zone with a transitional climate between the very warm Central Valley and the nearby Sierra Foothills AVA .
