Slovenes in Berlin is the first international documentary by directors Roman Schikorsky and Mark Poepping . The premiere took place in September 2006 in the Cankerjev Dom - the largest house of culture in Slovenia - in Ljubljana and in the traditional Babylon cinema in Berlin-Mitte. The film had its TV premiere on Slovenian television (RTV) on December 20, 2006.

action

“Slovenes in Berlin” shows the stories of five Slovenian immigrants and their lives on this side of the Alps - their wishes and hopes, their process of integration, their love and devotion for their homeland Slovenia, which they keep in Berlin with all their heart and soul.

The result is a 50-minute documentary about Europeans for Europeans, a film that describes a new awareness, a sense of togetherness that lives from the exchange of cultural idiosyncrasies, does not allow one to lose one's own identity and is understood as a human enrichment. Also shown is the second and third generation of immigrants, who, one might suppose, are moving further and further away from their own roots, not just linguistically.
