Smarano ( Nones : Smaran , German outdated: Smarein ) is a fraction of the municipality ( comune ) Predaia and until 2015 was an independent municipality in the province of Trento in the region of Trentino-South Tyrol .

Smarano is located about 30.5 kilometers north of Trento in the Non Valley at an altitude of 1011 mslm
history
Effective January 1, 2015, Smarano was merged with Coredo , Taio , Tres and Vervò to form the new municipality of Predaia . On December 31, 2013, the municipality had 511 inhabitants on an area of 6.4 km². Neighboring communities were Coredo, Sfruz and Tres .
