Coredo (German outdated: Koreth , Nones : Corèt ) is a fraction of the municipality ( comune ) Predaia and until 2015 was an independent municipality in the province of Trento in the region of Trentino-South Tyrol .
geography
Coredo is located about 34 kilometers north-northwest of Trento in the Non Valley at an altitude of 831 mslm. The municipality of Coredo belonged to the Tavon fraction. The neighboring communities were Kurtatsch (BZ), Don , Romeno , Sanzeno , Sfruz , Smarano , Taio , Tramin (BZ) and Tres .
history
Castel Coredo was the ancestral seat of the Counts Coreth zu Coredo and Starkenberg / Rumo . Castel Bragher (German: Castell Brughier), an important castle complex in Coredo, came from the Coreth in 1321 to the Counts of Thun and Hohenstein , who still own it today.
With effect from January 1st, 2015 Coredo was merged with Smarano , Taio , Tres and Vervò to form the new municipality of Predaia .
