Smif-N-Wessun is an American hip hop crew from New York . She is also known by her second Crewn name Cocoa Brovaz , which they had to adopt after a legal battle with the Smith & Wesson company . However, the group is currently using the old name again. The crew consists of the rappers Tek and Steele. Both come from the borough of Brooklyn , which they have given their pseudonym Bucktown . You are under contract with the label Duck Down .

Career

Tek and Steele met in 1993. In their area they met Ruck aka Sean Price and Rock, known as Heltah Skeltah ; Buckshot, 5ft, and Evil Dee known as Black Moon ; Starang Wondah, Top Dog and Louieville Sluggah, known as OGC . All crews together make up the Boot Camp Clik . Tek & Steele released their debut album Dah Shinin in 1995 under their then Crewname Smif'n'Wessun . The company Smith & Wesson looked too great a similarity of names and after a three-year legal battle finally changed Tek & Steele their crew name in 1998 in Cocoa Brovaz . In the same year the successor work The Rude Awakening followed . In 2004 a best of album was released with the title Still Shinin . It contains all the tracks, remixes and freestyles from the two rappers . In 2005 they released their album Reloaded , now again under the name Smif'N'Wessun . Guests like Tony Touch , Talib Kweli , Dead Prez , Da Beatminerz are represented.
