Sofijiwka ( Ukrainian Софіївка ; Russian Софиевка Sofijewka ) is a village in the western part of the Ukrainian Dnipropetrovsk Oblast with 1,210 inhabitants.
The village was founded in the early 19th century was called until 1953 Sofijewo-Hejkiwka (Ukrainian Софієво-Гейківка ) until 1963 Sofijewo (Ukrainian Софієво ) and thereafter by 19 May 2016 Walowe (Ukrainian Валове; Russian Валовое / Walowoje - in honor of a Soviet militiaman which during the establishment phase of the Soviet Union in armed conflicts died), after all, it was in the context of de-communization of Ukraine in Sofijiwka renamed.

The village with an area of 2.65 km² is located in the west of the Rajon Kryvyi Rih on the right bank of the Bokowa 35 km west of the city center of the district capital Kryvyi Rih and 5 km northeast of the urban-type settlement Chrystoforiwka .
Community structure
Sofijiwka is the administrative center of the district council of the same name. It borders on the Kirovohrad Oblast to the west . The total area of the district council is 47.79 km² and the total population is 1290 inhabitants. The village Iwaniwka (Ukrainian Іванівка , Russian Ивановка / Iwanowka ) with about 80 inhabitants belongs to the Landsratsgemeinde to the west of Sofijiwka .
