The German Softball Bundesliga 2019 was the 21st season of the Softball Bundesliga . Regular time began on April 14th and lasted until August 25th. Then the German champions were determined in the play-offs. The Wesseling Vermins started the season as defending champions . With the withdrawal of the Augsburg Dirty Slugs , the Stuttgart Reds and the Haar Disciples while the Tübingen Hawks rose at the same time , the number of teams decreased to 9.
Regular season
The regular season was played as a round-robin tournament, with two rounds in the north and three rounds in the south. Each team competed against each other team at least once at home and away. In addition, there was a simple round in which the teams from one group compete against the teams from the other group. Two games were played as double headers on each match day . Thus teams in Division North had 24 season games, while in Division South 28.
Play-offs
In the play-offs, the first placed from one division competed against the fourth placed and the second placed against the third placed from the other division in the best-of-three mode . The winners met in the semi-finals in the best-of-five mode and determined the participants in the final, which was also played as the best-of-five.
Germany Cup
The Germany Cup was played parallel to the play-offs. It served to determine the second European Cup participant next to the master. Except for the final game, the rounds were played in best-of-three series. In the first round, the fifth placed in the Northern group and three national league teams eligible for promotion played. In the second round, the losers of the quarter-finals of the play-offs competed against each other. In the third round, the winners of the second round met the winners of the first round. The winners of the third round played in the fourth round against the losers of the semi-finals of the play-offs. The winners of this round determined the final opponent of the loser of the play-off final in the fifth round.
