The Solbergfjord is a 27 km long strait between the island of Senja and the Norwegian mainland in the Fylke (province) Troms og Finnmark .

The sound

The Solbergfjord is a sound and administratively belongs to the municipalities of Senja , Dyrøy , and Sørreisa . It begins in the west between the islands of Dyrøya and Tranøya, located about six kilometers north on the south bank of Senja, and connects there to the Tranøyfjord , which merges further south into the Vågsfjord leading to Harstad . The Solbergfjord extends from there to the northeast, narrows to a width of about three kilometers, and ends at Tømmervika in the municipality of Sørreisa. There it goes over into the Reisafjord , a wide bulge that extends to Sørreisa in the southeast, and the Finnfjord , which continues there in a northerly direction to Finnsnes and Gisund .

Settlements

Larger settlements on the north bank are the villages of Skatvik, Solberg, Vangsvika, Rubbestad and Russestad on Senja. Espenes and Forstrand are on the mainland on the south side of the sound in Dyrøy municipality.

traffic

On the north side of the sound the provincial roads Fv231 run in the west and Fv227 in the east, on the south side the Fv211 in the east and the Fv212 in the west, where they connect the island of Dyrøya to the mainland via the "Dyrøybrua" (Dyrøy Bridge). Fv86 runs further to the east.
