Helga Solinger

Helga Solinger (born November 28, 1939 in Eisenach ) is a German social worker and politician of the SPD . She was a member of the Baden-Württemberg state parliament from 1984–2001. From 1992 to 1996 she was Minister of Social Affairs of Baden-Württemberg.

Life

After graduating from high school in Heidelberg, Solinger studied philosophy and German studies in Heidelberg , Munich and Berlin from 1959 to 1962 . She also took acting lessons in Berlin, received her diploma in acting in 1962 and then worked as a theater actress. From 1970 to 1974 she then studied social work in Stuttgart and Esslingen . She then worked at the Evangelical Society Stuttgart e. V. in mobile youth work, then in the open door clinic, a psychiatric clinic in Stuttgart.

Political activity

Solinger joined the SPD in 1971 and was a member of the Stuttgart city council from 1975 to 1984. She was elected as a member of the state parliament of Baden-Württemberg in 1984 and was chairwoman of the social committee there from 1988 to 1992.

During the grand coalition in Baden-Württemberg, Solinger served as Minister for Labor, Health and Social Affairs from June 11, 1992 to June 11, 1996 in the state government led by Prime Minister Erwin Teufel . In 2001 she left the state parliament.
