Solscheid is a residential area in the district of Bremscheid , a district of the local community Hausen (Wied) in the Neuwied district in Rhineland-Palatinate . The place belongs to the Verbandsgemeinde Rengsdorf-Waldbreitbach .

Solscheid is located in the Rhine-Westerwald Nature Park , about 10 kilometers as the crow flies north-northwest of Neuwied and 32 kilometers southwest of Bonn . The village is at the end of a cul-de-sac, the only direct neighbor is Langscheid in the north. South of Solscheid, the Bremscheider Bach flows into the Nonnenbach , a tributary of the Wied .
District road 3 leads to Solscheid. State roads 254 and 257 are three kilometers north of Solscheid, state road 255 is 2.5 kilometers east of the town. Solscheid is surrounded by the Wied forest.
history
Solscheid was first mentioned in documents in 1456 as a settlement of the nearby Langscheid farm. Around 1750 twelve families lived in the village. Solscheid belonged to 1803 to the Honnschaft Bremscheid in the Electorate of Cologne and then three years as Wied-Runkel . In 1806, the village came to the Duchy of Nassau where Solscheid for office Neuerburg in the administrative district Ehrenbreitstein belonged. As a result of the agreements made at the Congress of Vienna , the region around Solscheid was ceded to the Kingdom of Prussia in 1815. The place belonged to the mayor's office of Neuerburg in the Neuwied district in the Koblenz administrative district . From 1822 this was part of the Rhine Province .
In 1817 Solscheid had 85 inhabitants, in 1843 there were exactly 100 inhabitants in 19 houses. In 1968 the Bremscheid community, to which Solscheid belonged at the time, joined the Waldbreitbach community . On October 1, 1971, the Bremscheid community was renamed Hausen (Wied) . Since the dissolution of the Verbandsgemeinde Waldbreitbach on January 1, 2018, Solscheid has belonged to the Verbandsgemeinde Rengsdorf-Waldbreitbach .
