The Verbandsgemeinde Waldbreitbach was an administrative unit in the legal form of a regional authority in the Neuwied district in Rhineland-Palatinate . The Verbandsgemeinde belonged to six independent local communities , the administrative seat was in the eponymous local community Waldbreitbach .
The Verbandsgemeinde Waldbreitbach was dissolved on January 1, 2018 and the associated municipalities were assigned to the new Verbandsgemeinde Rengsdorf-Waldbreitbach .

The blazon reads: “Within a shelf made of black and silver sixteen times, split by silver and black; in front a crossed black bar cross ; in the back three silver diamonds standing diagonally one behind the other. "
The diamond coat of arms (here in swapped colors) was carried by the whale pods from Neuerburg , who have appeared since 1218 . The black cross reminds of the rule of the Electorate of Cologne until 1803. Legally valid (without shield border) since 1935, the shield border was apparently added later, but before 1954.

Due to its location in the Rhine-Westerwald nature park , tourism is an important economic factor for the community that has been losing its importance for decades. The municipalities of Hausen, Niederbreitbach, Roßbach and Waldbreitbach carry the rating climatic health resort . Small industrial areas are located in the municipalities of Niederbreitbach and Breitscheid.

Several state roads lead through the territory of the Verbandsgemeinde . The federal highway 3 and the federal highway 42 as well as the train stations Neuwied, Linz am Rhein and Montabaur ( ICE ) are only a few kilometers away.
education
In the area of the Verbandsgemeinde there are three primary schools and one secondary school plus as well as five kindergartens. The Volkshochschule Neuwied has events in Waldbreitbach. Secondary schools are in neighboring Neustadt (Wied) , Neuwied and Linz am Rhein.
