At the 2008 Summer Paralympics in Beijing , medals were awarded in a total of seven boccia competitions. The decisions were made between September 9th and September 12th, 2008 in the Olympic Green Exhibition Center .

Classes

In boccia, athletes with infantile cerebral palsy or other major physical disabilities were allowed to compete at the Paralympics . The classification goes from BC1 to BC4.

Results

A total of 88 athletes took part in the Paralympic boccia competitions. Men and women started mixed in the team (two decisions), in doubles (1) and in singles (4). The individual decisions took place on the first day of competition, September 9th, the doubles and team competitions on the second, September 12th.

Initially, the game was played in four groups with four players each. The group winners as well as the runners-up then qualified for the quarter-finals, from where it continued in the knockout system .
