Somon Air is a Tajik airline based in Dushanbe and based at Dushanbe Airport .

history

The privately founded and guided airline took 5 February 2008 flight operations with two aircraft of type Boeing 737 on. Initially, the route network from Dushanbe included Dubai and Moscow . Thomas W. Hallam II has been the new CEO of Somon Air since June 18, 2016 .

Somon Air is owned by the Tajik Orienbank and is controlled by the family of President Emomalij Rahmon . According to research by journalist David Trilling of CDH Investments Corporation , based in the British Virgin Islands, the aircraft's leasing fees for the first two years of 97 million US dollars were paid from the profits of the state-owned aluminum factory TALCO , which is directly controlled by the President.
