history

It was first mentioned in a document in 1353. The document is a contract of sale between Ernst von Wangershausen and a judge from Hallenberg for part of Somplar, written on August 18, 1353. In 1537 the Archbishop of Cologne reached an agreement with the Landgrave of Hesse. Somplar was finally lost to the Duchy of Westphalia and came to the Landgraviate of Hessen-Darmstadt . In 1835 the Ruhrstrasse was built from Frankenberg to Somplar, the choir was founded in 1879 and the volunteer fire brigade was founded in 1884 . In 1950 the village church was built, which could not be completed until 1952 due to the aftermath of the Second World War .

Somplar was incorporated into the municipality of Bromskirchen on February 1, 1971 as part of the regional reform in Hesse . As a result of the district reform in Hesse, the districts of Waldeck and Frankenberg were merged to form the district of Waldeck-Frankenberg with effect from January 1, 1974 . The Heimatverein was founded in 2003.
