Sonia Malavisi (born October 31, 1994 in Rome ) is an Italian pole vaulter .

Athletic career

Sonia Malavisi gained her first international experience in 2012 at the Junior World Championships in Barcelona , where she was eliminated from the qualification with 4.05 m. The following year she won the bronze medal at the Junior European Championships in Rieti with 4.20 m and in 2014 she won the U23 Mediterranean Games in Aubagne with a jump of 4.06 m . She also qualified for the European Championships in Zurich , where she did not reach the final with 4.25 m. At the U23 European Championships in 2015 in Tallinn , she made it to the final, where she was eleventh with 4.05 m. In 2016 she again took part in the European Championships in Amsterdam , but was eliminated again with 4.20 m in qualification. Then she did not reach the final with 4.45 m at the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro .

In 2017 she took part in the Summer Universiade in Taipei for the first time , where she was eliminated from the qualification with 3.80 m. In 2019 she was ninth at the European Indoor Championships in Glasgow with 4.50 m and seventh at the Student World Games in Naples with 4.31 m.

In 2015, 2016 and 2019 , Malavisi was the Italian champion in outdoor pole vault and in 2016 and 2019 also in the hall.
