Sophie Behr

Sophie Behr , actually: Sophie Elisabeth von Behr-Negendanck (born January 7, 1935 in Neubrandenburg ; † February 21, 2015 ) was a German journalist and writer .

Life

Sophie Behr was the daughter of the Mecklenburg landowner and fallen lieutenant in the reserve Hans Jasper von Behr -Negendanck (1901-1944) and his wife Gertrud nee von Rumohr (1908-1994). She grew up on her father's manor Neverin near Neubrandenburg . Her family was expropriated in 1945 and fled to Schleswig-Holstein. After graduating from high school in Timmendorfer Strand , she studied English, Spanish, psychology and sociology.

She worked as a journalist for Spiegel for 16 years . She was chief correspondent for Munich, and later also for Berlin. This was followed by work as a freelance journalist for Emma , radio and the feminist press.

Behr was also a co-founder of the Association of Single Mothers and Fathers (then "Association of Single Mothers"), of which she was federal chairman from 1977 to 1981. Since 1984 - and most recently withdrawn - she lived in Ruhstorf an der Rott in Lower Bavaria , on the Barhof, which she also developed as a memorial to the 90 children of forced labor who were murdered there in 1944/45.
