Sorhagenia fibigeri is a butterfly ( moth ) fromthe Chrysopeleiidae family . The species was named after the species' collector, Michael Fibiger .
features
The moths reach a wingspan of 7 to 9 millimeters. Head and forehead ( frons ) shine ocher to gray-white. The vertex , tufts and neck collar are brownish gray. The antennae are ringed ocher gray and indistinctly grayish brown. There are five ocher-white segments in the last third of the antennae. The labial palps have a grayish white sheen and are speckled with ocher colors on the inside. The second segment is dark gray on the outside. The third segment is strongly tinted dark brown, has a dark gray spot at the base and a broad subapical line on the outside.
The thorax and tegulae are brownish gray, the thorax has two dark brown tufts of scales at the back on the side. The legs are brownish gray, the tibiae have ocher-white subbasal , medial and apical rings. The tarsi are ocher white at the joints.
The front wings are brownish gray and have four dark, brownish gray tufts of scales. The first is at 1/4 of the forewing length between the anal fold and the inner wing edge. The second and largest is above the anal fold in front of the middle of the wing. The scales here have pale gray tips. The third tuft is between the anal fold and the inner edge of the wing on the other side of the second tuft. The fourth tuft is 3/4 of the wing length in the middle of the wing above the inner angle . A very indistinct knee-shaped ocher-brown band is at 3/4 of the fore wing length. A number of small, dark brownish-gray tufts of scales are distributed at the apex along the costalader and on the inner edge of the wing. The fringed scales are brownish gray. The hind wings have a pale gray sheen, they are darker on the Costa loader and on the inner edge of the wing. The fringed scales are brownish gray.
The abdomen shines dorsally gray. The sternites are broadly banded yellowish white behind. The anus tuft is dorsal pale gray and ventrally yellowish white.
In the males, the uncus is triangular and has strong bristles. The valves including the cucullus are slightly longer than the ampulla. The ampulla is club-shaped and curved at the base. The saccule is strong and more than twice as long as the cucullus. It widens distally and has a pointed, curved apex. The costa has two rounded protrusions. The juxta is short and parallel-walled and dilated at the base. The vinculum is V-shaped. The aedeagus is quite slim. The eighth abdominal sternite is provided with rows of strong bristles, these are curved at the base.
In females, the ostium is oval. The genital plate is provided with two pairs of lateral extensions. The upper pair is on the ostium, it is short and pointed. This is followed by a skirt-shaped extension. The lower pair is larger and is halfway along the antrum. The antrum is rather narrow and longer than the ductus bursae. The ductus bursae has parallel walls. The corpus bursae is egg-shaped. The signa are short and have a thorn in the middle.
Similar species
Sorhagenia fibigeri is similar to the smaller species Sorhagenia rhamniella . A reliable differentiation between the two types is only possible through a genital examination .
distribution
Sorhagenia fibigeri is widespread in Asia Minor ( Turkey ).
biology
The biology of the species is unknown. Butterflies were caught in the light from early July to mid-July .
