The Sorme is a river in France that runs in the Saône-et-Loire department in the Bourgogne-Franche-Comté region . It springs under the name Ruisseau de Moirans Merle in Morvan Natural Regional Park , in the southern municipality of Uchon , dehydrated generally to the southeast and ends after 20 kilometers in the municipality of Blanzy as a right tributary to the Bourbince that here on the Canal du Center is accompanied .

Etang de la Sorme reservoir

In the lower reaches, the river is dammed up to the lake Étang de la Sorme , which has a capacity of around 10 million cubic meters of water and covers a surface of 360 hectares, which extends over the municipalities of Blanzy , Les Bizots and Charmoy . It was built in 1971 for the purpose of keeping drinking water reserves ready in dry seasons.
