Sotomayor is a town in the Chuquisaca department in the South American Andean state of Bolivia .
Location in the vicinity
Sotomayor is the central place of the canton Sotomayor in the municipality Yamparáez in the province Yamparáez . The village is located at an altitude of 2136 m at the mouth of the Río Jatun Khakha in the Río Pilcomayo .

Sotomayor is located in the southern part of the Cordillera Central mountain range in the transition area to the Bolivian lowlands. The region has a typical daytime climate in which the temperature fluctuations during the day are greater than the average temperature fluctuations over the year.

Ten kilometers east of Yamparáez, a country road branches off at Lavadero in a south-easterly direction from Ruta 6 and after a few kilometers follows the course of the Río Jatun Khakha to its mouth at Sotomayor .
