Reviews

The album has consistently received excellent reviews and is considered a milestone for the band. Pitchfork Media gave the album a smooth 10.0 and thus the maximum number of points and leads the album to number 3 on their list of the best albums of 2002 and number 100 of the best albums of the 2000s . laut.de also gives the maximum number of points with five out of five points and writes:

"But although the songs couldn't be more different," Source Tags & Codes "seems very compact and closed. At no point do you have the impression that you are dealing with a pile of separate tracks. Rather, it seems as if " Source Tags & Codes " has been recorded in one piece, which is probably due not least to the frequently used interludes [...] Thirteen modern masterpieces of rock music, one of the best albums of recent times. Maybe even the best since " Relationship of Command " from the great At the Drive-In . "

- Alexander Cordas

The German music magazine Visions also ranks the album at 84th of their 150 albums for the ages
