The South Creek is a 63 km long tributary of the Hawkesbury River in the east of the Australian state of New South Wales .
geography
It rises about two kilometers north of Smeaton Grange , about 45 km southwest of Sydney city center and about 30 km from the coast of the Pacific Ocean . The South Creek runs in a northerly direction, first through agricultural area, before it passes after 10 km Rossmore and after another 25 km the two suburbs of Sydney, St. Clair and St. Marys . After another 25 km it flows into the Hawkesbury River at Windsor .
South Creek Settlement
When the Europeans first settled this area, a small settlement existed at the confluence of South Creek and Hawkesbury River. It only lasted a few years and is now part of Windsor . With one of these first settlers was Thomas Jamison (1753-1811) who arrived with the First Fleet in Australia and in 1801 the Surgeon-General of New South Wales (dt. About: chief doctor of the colony ).
