Souvlaki is the second of four studio albums by the British rock band Slowdive and was released in May 1993 on the well-known Creation Records label . The album is one of the classics of shoegazing .

When it was released, the album polarized a lot and led some critics to harshly panned out:
"[This] record is a soulless void [...] I would rather drown choking in a bath full of porridge than ever listen to it again.

In retrospect, however, the album is rated much more positively. Pitchfork Media voted it # 2 in their 50 best shoegazing albums. The magazine Spin counts Souvlaki among the essential albums of the genre.
