The Odessa Soviet Republic ( Russian Одесская Советская Республика (ОСР) , German Transcription: Odesskaya Sovetskaya Respublika, Ukrainian Одеська Радянська Республіка ) was a short-lived Soviet republic on the territory of the former Russian Empire , which on January 5 jul. / January 18, 1918 greg. from parts of the Cherson Governorate and the Bessarabia Governorate with its center in Odessa .
history
During the Russian Civil War , just before Bolshevik forces ousted the Ukrainian government from Kiev and Sfatul Ţării proclaimed the independence of the Moldovan Democratic Republic , Odessa became jul on December 23, 1917 . / January 5, 1918 greg. declared a free city. On January 5th, Jul. / January 18, 1918 greg. there was an uprising of the Bolsheviks , the anarchists and the left Social Revolutionaries , the result of which was the proclamation of the Soviet Republic of Odessa. The Soviet republic of Odessa was ruled by Rumcherod , which was constituted in May 1917, shortly after the February Revolution .
The highest authority was the Council of People's Commissars, headed by Vladimir G. Yudowski. The leaders of the Odessa Soviet Republic declared that they did not intend to recognize the power of the government of Soviet Ukraine , but rather the power of Bolshevik Russia directly .
The Odessa Soviet Republic ended two months after its creation, on 13 March 1918, shortly after the separate peace (January 27 jul. / February 9, 1918 greg. ) Between the Central Powers and the Ukrainian People's Republic and the Treaty of Brest-Litovsk with Soviet Russia (3 March 1918) than it by German and Austro-Hungarian troops was occupied .
