history

Family tree of SpVg Heepen

The club goes back to the gymnastics club Heepen , which was founded on July 24, 1894 . The second parent club was the proletarian workers 'sports club Jahn Heepen , which was founded in 1904 and belonged to the Workers' Gymnastics and Sports Association (ATSB). After the National Socialists came to power in 1933, the ATSB and its affiliated associations were forcibly dissolved. Both clubs then merged to form the Heepen sports club . After the end of the Second World War , it became today's Heepen Sports Association . In addition to handball and football, the club also has cardiac sports , inline skating , ju jutsu , karate , artistic gymnastics , swimming , taijiquan , tennis , table tennis and volleyball .

Handball

In 1927 a handball department was founded in the Heepen gymnastics club. The women's team played in the Oberliga Westfalen at the end of the 1970s and in 1980 made it to the then second-class Regionalliga West. At the same time, the women in Heeper qualified for the women's DHB Cup, where the team caused a sensation. In the first round, the SpVg beat the Bundesliga club Pulheimer SC 14:13 after extra time, before the team beat VfL Engelskirchen 18:17 in the following round of 16 and thus threw another Bundesliga club out of the competition. The end for the Heepenerinnen came in the quarterfinals after a 20-13 defeat at VfL Oldenburg . In the second DHB Cup participation in the 1982/83 season, the SpVg was eliminated in the first round after the team only had to admit defeat to SC Germania List at 17:20 in the second extension .

In the 1980/81 regional league season, the Heeperinnen took third place straight away and only missed the promotion round to the Bundesliga by one point. In the following years, the team achieved placements in the upper middle of the table. The men's team of SpVg Heepen rose in 1980 to the then fourth-class Oberliga Westfalen. With one point behind TuS Ferndorf , the direct relegation followed. In 1986 the handball department of SpVg Heepen and that of TSV Altenhagen 03 formed the TSG Altenhagen-Heepen syndicate . The female A-youth of SpVg Heepen became West German champions in 1977 and qualified for the German championship. There the team failed in the first round due to the Reinickendorfer Füchsen .

history

In 1950, the footballers of SpVg Heepen achieved promotion to the district class for the first time. Six years later, the penultimate place was only enough to stay in the league because the relegation in the district class was suspended in the course of the introduction of the Association League Westphalia . A year later the Heepers got down in sport and returned in 1960. This ushered in the most successful phase in Heeper football. After a runner-up in 1967 behind local rivals VfL Schildesche , he was promoted to the then fourth-class Landesliga Westfalen a year later . In the 1968/69 promotion season, the SpVg reached its sporting zenith with twelfth place. Two years later, he was relegated to the district class.

In the following district class season 1971/72 the Heepener were passed directly to the district league. It was not until 1983 that he returned to the district league in a curious way. While the first team was relegated to the district league B, the second team became champions in the parallel season, made it to the top and became the new first team. For twelve years, the club belonged to the district league and achieved the best placement of this era in the 1988/89 season with fifth place. In 1995 it went back to the district league before the Heeper were able to return to the district league twice for one year each in 1996/97 and 1998/99. In 2012, the Heeper were relegated to the district league B, before being promoted back to the district league A three years later. In 2020 the Heeper rose to the district league.

The home arena is the Schützenberg sports field . The over -32 team of SpVg Heepen became Westphalian champions in 2000.
