The Leitenkoppe ( Polish Spadowa Kopa ) is a mountain in the High Tatras with an altitude of 2251 m npm on the Polish - Slovak border.
Location and surroundings
Below the summit are the Fish Lake Valley ( Dolina Rybiego Potoku ) in the west (Poland) and the Bialka Valley ( Dolina Białki ) in the east (Slovakia).
Neighboring peaks are de Dénesspitze ( Niżnie Rysy ), in whose massif the summit is located and which is separated from it by the mountain pass Spadowe Siodło , and the Great Frog's Tip ( Żabi Szczyt Wyżni ).
etymology
The Polish name Spadowa Kopa can be translated as Falling Koppe .
tourism
The Leitenkoppe is not on any marked hiking trail. However, it is accessible to climbers with a permit from the administration of one of the national parks . The shelters Schronisko PTTK nad Morskim Okiem and Schronisko PTTK w Dolinie Roztoki are suitable starting points for an ascent . It is considered a difficult summit by climbers.
